Bring your TekMetric history into AutoDX
Two pieces work together. A one-time spreadsheet import brings everything already in TekMetric. After that, the webhook brings every new order, appointment and inspection on its own.
1. Export from TekMetric
TekMetric has no button to export vehicles or repair orders. These two files get your history out instead:
- Customers: open Customers and press Download CSV. This brings names, phones, emails and addresses.
- Parts Usage report: open Reports > Parts Usage, set the dates to cover every year you have used TekMetric, leave Group By off so it lists every part line (grouping by RO Number also works; grouping by Vendor or Brand only gives totals and will not import), and export as CSV. Every part line names its RO, customer and vehicle, so AutoDX builds one finished repair order per RO with the car, the customer, the jobs and the parts used. You need the TekMetric permission "Can view/export all Parts Reports".
What the Parts Usage report cannot give you: orders that used no parts, and dollar totals (those stay blank). Orders already in AutoDX from the live TekMetric link keep their own details and only get empty fields filled.
2. Import into AutoDX
- Sign in as an admin and open Admin > Bring in from TekMetric.
- Pick both files.
- Press Bring them in. Customers go first, so the other files can put names on your orders. Each file then shows what happened, and the last line shows the totals and how long it took.
What the numbers mean:
- New: records that were not in AutoDX yet.
- Updated: records that were already there. Only empty fields get filled. A value AutoDX already holds is never overwritten.
- Older orders filled in: orders that gained a customer name or a car.
- Skipped: rows with no id or RO number, or the same order listed twice.
Importing the same files again is safe. Nothing is duplicated.
3. Turn on the webhook
In TekMetric, go to Settings > Integrations > Webhooks and paste the webhook address your AutoDX admin page gives you. Tick every event: repair orders, appointments, inspections, posting and payments. From then on, new work shows up in AutoDX within seconds.
Good to know
- Each file can hold up to 50,000 rows and 20 MB. For a bigger history, export it in date ranges and import each part.
- Only CSV files are accepted. If TekMetric gives you an Excel file, open it and use Save As CSV.
- Appointments come in through the webhook. Payments, purchase orders and canned jobs are not imported yet.
- A few thousand rows take seconds.
